Scrapbook Sundays - Back to School

We're back to scrapbooking this week.  I do have oodles of finished Disney pages to post, but I'm going to start by posting the pages that we have created in my scrapbook club over the past six months.  First up is the September Back to School pages. 

The apples were hand created by moi, based on a photograph that appeared on a cover of the Stampin' Up! demonstrator magazine Stampin' Success.  Wherever you see a piece of white paper, this is where the photos are supposed to go.  I haven't printed photos in eons, so I have yet to add pictures of my kids to these pages.  I'll get there (that's my mantra these days).

Scrapbook Sundays - Fall leaves captured on a single scrapbook page

Many people scrapbook using single page layouts for their memorable occasions.  This particular page would look wonderful in a shadowbox frame, mounted on the wall.  It allows for two 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" photographs, but you can also substitute one of the Very Vanilla pieces for a larger photograph or a more substantial title.  

The page is based on a layout that I created last fall with my scrapbook club, and was put together by participants at a recent workshop.  Easy for beginners, with the potential for much more.

Scrapbook Sundays - That's a whole lot of apples

September is the first month of this edition of my Scrapbook Club, and the ladies all created their pages this past week.  For those that opted to include the embellishments in their pages, they received a paper apple that was hand cut by moi.  One of these apples appeared on the September cover of 'Stampin' Success', the demonstrator magazine that is published by Stampin' Up!

I created a bunch of these apples for our pages.  They were easy enough to make once I had the pattern put together, and creating them in an assembly line fashion helped with their quick creation.

There are two versions of this photograph - one in the natural light of my dining room, and one that is all flashed up.  I opted for the natural, which is the darker of the two, simply to give you more of a feel for the dimension of the fruit.

The Wendy's Little Inklings Scrapbook Club could be the answer!

This club is a 6 month club running from September 2011 through February 2012.

Each month we will create a 2-page, 12x12 layout that will be ready for photos and journalling when you take it home.  You can then pop it right into your album.

The club fee includes all paper, stamps and ink to create your pages.  The pages will be a step up from basic, but will not contain a lot of die-cuts or embellishments.

Additional embellishment kits will be available for purchase each month at a cost of $5 each.  These will vary on a monthly basis based on the pages completed, but components may include ribbon, other embellishments and diecuts.  

The club fee is $60, payable by Friday, August 26th.  If you wish to purchase all embellishment kits in advance, the cost of the club will be $85 (savings of $5 = one free kit).  If you wish to purchase embellishment kits on the night of the class, the cost will be $5/kit.

Once you have paid your club fee, you won't need to spend another cent as part of this club.  There is no monthly fee, and you are not required to make a monthly purchase.

Please note that the cost of the 12x12 album and adhesive is NOT included.  Club members are expected to provide their own adhesive.

We meet once a month at my house in Brooklin (north Whitby).  Club times are as follows:

• Mondays at 9:15am (starting September 12th)
• Mondays at 7:30pm (starting September 12th)
• Tuesdays at 7:30pm (starting September 13th)

Scrapbook Sundays - Comic Book Heroes

I'll have to get scrapbooking this week!  These are my last finished pages that have been put into the album, and as you read this, I'm just returning home from Chicago.  More pictures to scrapbook!

One of the paper packs in my collection contained a bunch of American red/white/blue designs.  These aren't something that I can generally use because of where I live, so it was nice to be able to incorporate them into one of my projects.  I also love stars.  When you have boys, they're a great accent on all kinds of projects.  Stampin' Up! has retired their star punches, but you can still diecut all of the stars that you could possibly need with the Stars #2 die and the Big Shot.

The stars and small circles on this page were punched with my SU! punches and Night of Navy & Riding Hood Red cardstock.  Stamping was done using Night of Navy ink and the Rough Edges alphabet (ret'd) and another alphabet that I got before I discovered SU! 

Back to reality.  As I haven't been home for the past few days, I haven't had an opportunity to update my website, and change everything over for the new catalogue year.  Tomorrow I'll be able to get all of that done.

Scrapbook Sundays - One Fish, Two Fish... You know the rest.

Last Sunday I posted the first layout from the Seuss part of Universal Studios in Florida.  Here are the next set of pages from that part of the park.  It's really, really bright there.  I pity the painters that had to stare at all of the fluorescent colours when they were painting it all. 

It truly is a great place for kids and adults alike.  The street signs are hilarious to read, and meeting the Cat in the Hat was worth the heavy duty sunglasses that you needed to wear to dull down the colours.

The only Stampin' Up! anything on this page is the title.  I stamped it on Whisper White cardstock using the retired Rough Type alphabet and Night of Navy ink.  All of my Stampin' Up! alphabets - retired or otherwise - are kept on a separate shelf in my stamping area.  I collect and hoard these as I find they are superb for creating wonderful titles.

There is one more set of Universal pages that are finished, and ready to be posted.  The Disney pages?  They'll be awhile :)

Scrapbook Sundays - Oh the Places You Will Go!

I'm slowly working my way through my Disney scrapbook - and I mean slowly.  I have sixteen pages that are partially finished, in that there are pictures, mats & titles, but no embellishments or journalling.  I've decided that the pictures will all go on the pages, and I'll do the embellishing/stickering/journalling at the end to ensure that I don't duplicate journalling, and I don't run out of stickers!  I'm generally not a sticker person, so I'm finding it difficult to measure out what page gets what stuff.

My Universal Studios pages though, are finished.  At least the ones that aren't from Harry Potter are.  I think the Potter pages will be the last to be finished, even though that was the first place we went.  My daughter loved Seussland, and it was really funky and bright, so we spent some time there.  Here is the first of two layouts from the world of Dr. Seuss.

Now, as you all know, I don't use Stampin' Up! products exclusively in my scrapbooks.  Why?  Because I own a lot of scrapbook stuff *hangs head*.  A lot.  The base pages are from another company, but the Designer Series Paper, as well as the cardstock for the title are from SU!  As are the buttons.  I was pleased as punch the day that I found the Seuss stickers at the big M.  Especially since it was the day after I stuck everything else on the page!!!  Sad isn't it? 

The second layout from this section of the park will go up next Sunday.  I'm going to load it now to ensure that it posts on time.

Scrapbook Sundays - Baja Breeze Birds

Good Morning!  I hope that everyone is enjoying their long Victoria Day weekend.  Mine has been relaxing so far - especially because the internet went down for several hours yesterday.  Although, as I type this, I am listening to my husband tell the kids to find something else to do that is less disruptive, and ultimately quieter.

Today's scrapbook page is something similar to a double layout that I posted last month.  Colleen's page has been put together using Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake ink and paper.  She has added some of the Baja Breeze 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon, a couple of Filigree brads, and Silver Glass Glitter.  The stamps themselves have come from the All Holidays and Elements of Style stamp sets. 

No scrapbooking for me today.  I think that lounging on the deck may be in order.  I'll get back to my crafty world tomorrow.

Scrapbook Sundays - Monochromatic Marina Mist

The pages that were completed at this month's Scrapbook Club evolved out of two different sources.  Colleen had been persuing past Stampin' Success magazines (the wonderful publication that demonstrators receive from Stampin' Up!), looking for a page that she could recreate.  She found an 8"x8" sample that was completed entirely using Marina Mist supplies.  Her finished page was 12"x12" (I'll post it next weekend - once the battery in my camera has been replaced!), with a Crumb Cake base, and Baja Breeze 8"x8" centrepiece.

These pages are a collaborative of the two samples.  I've also added a second page as I scrapbook in double page layouts. 

Marina Mist cardstock, Designer Series Paper, Satin Ribbon, and ink was used on the page.  My pages have a base of Chocolate Chip, however the pages that the ladies in the group completed used a base of Early Espresso (which I like better). 

Other elements on the pages include Filigree & Rhinestone brads, and all stamping was completed using the Vintage Vogue stamp set. 

Now... you're asking... where are the photographs???  I'm never THAT organized.  The empty spaces will hold six 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" pictures.  I'll print mine in sepia, as they'll match the page nicely.

Scrapbook club is now finished.  Watch for something new to fill its place :)
