Sporty Snowboarder on a door!

It's January.  I'm still organizing my house.  It's going to take until February, and then I'll need to start all over again.

I'm almost finishing putting up all of those pesky Decor Elements that I have hanging around.  The last one won't be put up for some time as I want to fix a couple of holes and repaint that section first.  The two that I put up this afternoon belonged to the boys in the house.  My one son adamently wanted his on the wall over this bed, even though it's too small.  I think I'll either buy or create a frame around it on the wall. 

My other son originally didn't want his on any wall, so I suggested that we put it on his door.  He thought about it for a moment, and agreed.  So, down came the ripped SpongeBob poster, and up went the Sporty Snowboarder.

Stampin' Up! says that these need to be installed on smooth surfaces, and I was a tad concerned as there is a slight fake wood grain in the wood of his door (see photo above).  It's an MDF door, so how much "wood grain" could there possibly be?  Anyhow, it went up very well, and I'm pleased with the results.  My husband's gone out to pick him up from a friend's house, so we'll see what he has to say.

White Decor Elements Flowers on Pink Walls

Hello my friends!  It's almost midnight, so I need to post this quickly to make sure I hit my goal of a post a day :)

My scrapbooking friends just left my house, and were chuckling as they left because we were talking about New Year's Resolutions.  A couple of them are trying to take a picture every day, as part of their 365 project, so they understand my urgency.

Here's the thing though.  It's really difficult to take pictures of white flowers, on Pretty in Pink walls, in a hurry with your point & shoot camera.  So, this is what I have for this evening.  If I had actually gotten around to putting up the other one on my son's door earlier today, you'd have something better to look at.

These Decor Elements flowers were available last year as a Level 1 Hostess Benefit.  I traded and accumulated until I had 5 of them, and they then sat around the house with the butterflies until I put them up.  I actually put these on the wall last Sunday, and they're supposed to be growing out of her baseboard, just below her window.  I'm happy with the results.  My daughter loves them.

Bedtime.  It's been a long day, and I didn't get the nap that I was craving earlier today.  Until tomorrow, happy stamping!

Fly Butterfly, Fly!

It's a new year, and I want to try a few new things.  If you could see my to-do list, you'd realize that I really want to try a new things.  One of those is to actually have a posting schedule where you know on a daily basis what's up on the agenda for the week.  I have something laid out, and we'll see where it takes us through the next few weeks.

I'd like to spotlight a bunch of products on a weekly basis that we don't normally look at, as well as some your favourites.  Since I have a bunch of them lying around, waiting to be put up, we're going to start with the Decor Elements featured in our Definitely Decorative catalogue.

Yesterday afternoon I put up the butterflies from the Flutter set.  This is a set of 23 butterflies.  It comes in six different colours, and it can be ordered in two different sizes.  As my daughter's bedroom is all Pretty in Pink (tell me if I'm wrong about that!) and White, I went with the Large Flutter set in white. 

The first thing that I did was cut the butterflies apart.  I then positioned them onto the wall, securing them with painter's tape.  This allowed me to move them around, and determine the best location for each butterfly.  I really like the layout in the catalogue, so I tried to emulate it.

Once I had all of the butterflies positioned, I pulled them off individually, starting with the largest butterfly in the centre.  I used my Decor Elements Applicator (114285 - $2.25) to scratch across the image, essentially forcing the element onto it's sticky backing paper.  I then pulled the pieces apart, placed the image on the wall, and scratched the entire image.  Peeling the sticky paper off, I had a butterfly on the wall.  Here's the end result.

The directions that come with the Decor Elements are excellent, but I'm always available if you need a quick "help me!" consultation.

The large Flutter set (largest image is 9-3/4" x 9-1/4") is $26.95, while the medium Flutter set (largest image is 5-7/8" x 5-1/4") is $15.95.  They are available in Whisper White, Basic Gray, Chocolate, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, and So Saffron.

I'll have more for you this week.  They've been hanging around my house for months.  My daughter actually asked me why I didn't put these up in the summer like I promised.  Ooops.

On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer, on Vixen...

Well, actually just Dasher!  I was decorating like a madwoman on Friday, and finally managed to put up my Dasher Decor Element.  It's been sitting here for a few weeks (like a few other Decor Elements that I have!), and it just happened to be the first to make it on the wall because of his rather seasonal nature.  Here he is!

A couple of things about my happy reindeer...  Although he's in the Definitely Decorative Brochure, he's not available for sale!  He's a Level 2 Hostess item, and he's available in Chocolate Chip, Black, Real Red and White.  If you would like to have one for next Christmas, you need to host a workshop!!!  We can chat about that in the New Year. 

Secondly, I normally have artwork hanging overtop of my fireplace.  I've positioned Dasher in such a way that I can hang the picture back on the wall, covering him up until next Christmas.  You can see the anchor for the screw in the photos, but it's honestly not that visible on the wall.  You have to look for the anchor to see that it's there.  So, let me know if you'd like your own Dasher and we'll chat!
