Textured Wedding Invites, with a touch of Pearls

The last wedding invitation sitting on my shelves is this one.  I pulled most of the elements for this design from a card sample that I have in a folder on my desktop.  I'm rather surprised I found the picture, as there are LOTS of photos in that file!

I used the Big Shot to dry emboss the section of Basic Gray paper that is on the left side of the invite, and added a knotted piece of black satin ribbon at the point where the paper merges.  There are two small pearls sitting in the middle of the dry embossed pattern.  They fit perfectly into the indent of the pattern. 

The reply card is a smaller version of the invitation, with the thin taffeta rribbon as the satin is just too wide.  I haven't knotted it - the ribbon is too thin to hide the seam if it was.

Silver & Satin... Beautiful on a wedding invitation

Of the invitation samples that I created recently, this is my favourite of the bunch.  It doesn't have any folds, and it fits perfectly inside an A9 envelope.  Embossed in the corners is the big swirl image from Baroque Motifs.  To counter balance the silver, I've added a silver brad in the corner.

Adding the black satin ribbon across the bottom rounds out the sheen on the card.  Between the silver embossing, satin ribbon, and rhinestone brad, this is a very elegant invitation.  The reply card has been embossed with the same image in the corner.

Tomorrow is SuperBowl Sunday, so my post is going to be uber-simple.  That's what happens when you have a whole bunch of people coming over to feast on chili!  At this point I have no idea how many crockpots we'll have here, but I've got more than one power bar :)

Scalloped Wedding Invites

Today I've got the second of the wedding invitations that I put together in recent days.  This one is of a similar design to yesterday's invite, but it's been taken up a notch. 

The flap has been punched with the Scallop Edge punch, and I've embossed the swirl from Baroque Motifs using clear embossing powder.  Initials on the invite are courtesy of Lovely Letters.

Inside the invite, you will find some some additional scallop edges, and embossed swirls.  The reply card and main invitation has been matted with Basic Gray, to give it a bit of pop and weight.

The third design will go up tomorrow, and the fourth will likely go up on Monday (as it is SuperBowl Scrapbook Sunday coming up!).  Keep your eyes peeled :)

A Basic Wedding Invitation

I almost went to park myself on the couch beside my husband when I realized that I hadn't posted anything on the blog today.  I've been completely immersed in something else, and the day has slipped past me.

We're heading back towards wedding season, and I have been designing invitation samples for someone who has expressed an interest in a black or gray invitation.

The first one that was created was very simple.  It is a 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" invitation when closed, and the space for the details and the reply card are plain white.  When closed, the flaps overlap, and I have added a sentiment from one of this year's Level 3 Hostess Sets - Occasional Quotes.

Check it out!  The flamingo that sits on the plant in my kitchen made it into the photo.  World's best bird.

2200 Cards... Done!

I've been chattering for the last little bit about the 2200 cards I needed to make for my husband's company.  They have kept me from a whole bunch of things in the last little bit, including blogging! 

As of this evening, they are stamped, folded, boxed and sealed.  All will be delivered tomorrow, and I'll be able to clean my house. 

Here's what they looked like on my dining room table this evening, just before I sorted them all out.  Below you'll also find some photos of what the actual card looks like.

Tomorrow I'll be back to blogging as normal.  I may even add a few extra posts to make up for my lack 'o posts over the last little bit.  The Stampin' Up! demonstrator special is spectacular right now, and there is something else coming up that you'll want to watch out for.

Custom Christmas Cards. I can help you with this!

I finally made it outside today to take photos of the infamous "2200" card for this year.  Last year there was lots of green on it, and this year there's none.  By the end though, I think that I'll be very sick of snowflakes!  I am breaking down and asking for help this year.  Last year I did all 2200 myself.  This year I've got help.  With the schedule that I've set out for myself this fall, I'm going to need it!

Without further ado, here's this year's card.

As you can see, it's a tri-fold card.  The front is all snowflakes.  When you open up the top flap, here's what you find on the next flap:

These will be relatively easy to stamp.  It will be time consuming to score all of the cards, but there's no cutting.  I'm using a Tearing Edge ruler to tear the edge of the cardstock, and sponges to ink up the edge.  The stamps on this card come from the Many Merry Messages stamp set, and the Serene Snowflakes set.  Both are ideal for a card like this.

One more item... there's NO glitter on this card!  None.  Nada.  Last year's glitter disaster will not be repeated.

Father's Day is coming up fast... a man-friendly spinner card might be what you need and I can help you with that!

Hello again!  It's June 1st!  The Last Chance List comes out today, but I'll go into that in another post.  This one is all about a very cool Father's Day card that we made at Stamp Club last month.  It's a round Spinner card! 

If you want one, but don't have the time, energy, or supplies to make one, let me know by Monday June 7th and I can get one out to you.  $2 a card (+ shipping if I need to drop it in the mail) for one of the coolest man cards around.

What's so special about this one?  When you rotate the card, the beer mug spins around the circle!  My husband, who is SOOOO not a card guy, thinks this one is cool.  If I can impress him, then any guy out there can be impressed.  Now... if your guy doesn't drink beer, you could always change it to root beer!  Change the colours of the card, and create a root beer float instead.  See?  There's a way around every problem.

The stamp set on this spinner card is Cheers to You, and the colours are Very Vanilla, More Mustard and Chocolate Chip.

2200 Holiday Cards...

Good evening friends...  you read the title correctly.  I'm in the process of making 2200 holiday cards for my husband's employer.  I've been steadily working on them over the past couple of months, but now I really need to finish them.  And... the original number was 2000, but last week they asked for another 200.  So, the paper for the extra cards is somewhere in the hands of UPS, and I will need to carve out a bit of time to stamp those up. 

What does the card look like?  It's this one.  Sorry for the quality of the photo, but I just took it in my dining room, on a crappy background with inadequate lighting.

I've been putting them together production-line-style, so I've got stacks of paper everywhere.  200 of the cards needed to be in french, and they are finished.  A batch of the english cards are also finished.  I've got a pile of paper that's been printed (I'm printing the sentiment on the inside and my contact info on the back), scored, and folded.  I've got another pile of unprinted cardstock.  Last, but not least, I've got a couple of piles of the stamped cardstock that will be glued to the front.  

 

Colours on the card?  Very Vanilla, Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive.  When this is over I will be happy if I NEVER see another piece of Kiwi Kiss cardstock again.  The only reason that I'm actually able to put together the extra 200 cards is that when my order of Kiwi Kiss cardstock shipped in June, one of the reinkers in the box exploded.  6 packs of cardstock ended up with pink corners where the ink made it through the plastic.  When I trim these down (1/4" each side) I will be able to use them.  Otherwise I'd be hunting the stuff down high and low to finish off the cards.

In my bid to finish these off, and get everything ready for our Stamp-a-Stack in November (only 6 spots left!!!), I may not be posting everyday for a little bit.  I do have a couple of things that I can post, but I need time to post them!

A box of gorgeous designer notecards!

I love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  Why?  Simple - over the past 2 1/2 years, I've been able to amass a decent collection of "stuff" that I can use to create just about anything.  My punch collection is out of control, I have all of the Classic ink pads, markers, and matching cardstock, and there's a whole lot of ribbon in my office!!!  It's great for scrapbooking and cardmaking

However, I do offer another service to customers that I don't mention often enough.  I create custom cards for those customers that want a set of cards, but don't necessarily want to stamp them or put them together.  Each set of cards comes with a matching box, and envelopes.

This is a set of cards that I recently created for a customer.  There are 10 watercoloured cards, as well as a hand-stamped and watercoloured box.  I didn't design the original card (I borrowed the idea from one of my uplines, Jennifer Tinline), but I love the look of the card once the flowers have been stamped and watercoloured.
