Yes, I know that Father's Day isn't until tomorrow. However, since I've got a set of scrapbook pages cued up and ready to go for tomorrow's Scrapbook Sunday post, I'm showing you a Father's Day card today. The only bad part about it is that my husband has seen it. He hasn't seen the other cards that my kids made, which have been strategically hidden around the house. They're far more interesting anyhow...
Anyhow, here's today's card. It's based on another one that I found on the internet a couple of weeks ago. I'm madly looking for the link, and not finding it. If you could see how many browser windows I have open right now, you'll understand. I'll keep looking for it and post it if I find it.
Isn't it cute? Well, that is if you can call a manly card cute... The colour combination for this card was taken from the Travel Journal Designer Series Paper, and consists of Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie. The original card designer said on her blog that she thought that the striped paper reminded her of a tie, and she's right!!! It absolutely does!
I don't have Holiday Blitz, which has both a "dad" stamp and a "tie" stamp, so I had to improvise. The ties were diecut using the Build-a-Bear Beary Hoppy Sizzlet die, and I diecut the Modern Label frame using the Movers & Shakers die. It gives you a slightly larter Modern Label image, so you can use it to create openings in your card, or cut mats for your stamped/punched images. Finally, the funky circle behind the ties is actually the basket base from the Baskets & Blooms die. I had never thought of using it as an accent piece. What a brilliant idea! I stamped the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment in Night of Navy ink (note: You could easily change this to a birthday card if you change the sentiment!)
If you find these kinds of Manly cards to create, make sure that you mark the following date on your calendar: Thursday, August 26th. My class that day is all about Manly cards! Samples will go up on the blog closer to that date.
In the meantime, Happy Father's Day, and Happy Stamping!
