Liam's Birthday Picture Frame - courtesy of Michy!

My daughter Michelle was invited to a birthday party this afternoon for one of her classmates.  The invitation clearly stated that she wasn't supposed to bring a gift, but both she and I felt terrible that she wasn't able to bring something for Liam.  He's one of her favourite people, and Michelle wanted to give him something special.

We created a picture frame for him, using a frame that we had bought at the big M.  The funny part about it is that Liam's mom works at the big M!  Anyhow, we covered the frame with some Designer Series Paper that I had left over from last spring, added a ribbon, and Liam's name.

Michelle wanted to add a special picture, so she drew a picture on the heart that I cut out for the opening, and printed her name (she's 4 after all!).  Hopefully Liam likes his special Michy gift!

Short post tonight... it's been a long day, and the Olympic Closing Ceremonies are on.  There's a big Canadian Party going on across the country.  Cheers!

A cute wreath o' paper

I've spent my weekend making cards for other people, working on my own Christmas cards, and preparing for tonight's Tag Class.  As such, I'm posting a photo of a gorgeous wreath that one of the members of my downline, Karen Kane, created for our last group meeting in September.

Karen used a wreath form, some rolled Merry Moments Designer Series Paper, and a bunch of stick pins to put this together.  The Real Red 5/8" grosgrain ribbon is the perfect touch to finish it off.  This is a great project to work on in front of the TV because you're simply rolling the paper, and sticking it in.  Time consuming, but fairly mindless, and when you're done you'll have a gorgeous wreath!

Giant paperclips anyone? Great for holding LOTS of paper...

At our Mom & Me stamping class on Saturday, the kids all stamped some of their favourite fruit using the Tart & Tangy stamp set.  They then added a bit of bling, punched some coloured circles, and glued them all together.

Now... the circles of fruit were then glued to the tops of the paper clips using a hot glue gun.  This is absolutely a "mom job" (as if there aren't enough in life as it is!) because we don't need any of our precious children with burns on their hands.  I made sure that there is glue on the paper clip, as well as an extra dab in the centre, just for good measure.

The topper for this one, as well as the paper behind the paper clips, is from our retired Summer Picnic paper.  The cellophane bags are also available through Stampin' Up!  The back of the pack has a scalloped square, with one of the stamps from Art by Design stamped in Real Red. 

This handstamped gift goes very well with the card that we made (see last week's post).  I hope that the teachers receiving these gifts like them!  The teacher sitting at the table did.

Altered Book Journals - complete with bookmarks!

A bunch of us came together on Sunday evening to make book journals together.  I have been part of a wonderful book club for over 2 years now, and the journals give us a good place to record some of our adventures in reading. 

To create them, I bought some simple journals from Michael's, which we then covered with lots of Stampin' Up! Designer Series paper and cardstock.  Each one was as individual as the person that created it.  We had 2 members of our club that weren't able to complete their journals on Sunday evening, so I have taken the time over the past couple of days to put theirs together.  Here are a couple of our completed journals!

Debbie hasn't seen her journal as of yet...  here it is.  She's a huge book lover, so I know that she'll get some good use out of her book.  Her paper comes from the Raspberry Tart DSP, with some Kiwi Kiss and Cameo Coral thrown in.

The second journal belongs to Marci.  She opted to combine some Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper, Basic Grey and Cameo Coral cardstock. - a fantastic colour combination!

Finally, here is my journal.  I used some Maine Blueberry paper (retired earlier this year), along with some Not Quite Navy and Old Olive cardstock.  I also threw in a few felt flowers, and will likely add a couple of rhinestone brads!

We added pockets to the insides of both the front and back covers.  4 page dividers were also added, along with a handy bookmark (anchored by a Filigree brad).  Finally, we created bookmarks with some of the offcuts of paper, ribbon, and and a jumbo eyelet.
