Happy Flower Fest Greetings

It's June 30th.  Last day for the old catalogue before we can all crack the covers on our new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogues tomorrow.  I'm SOOOO excited!

I have a few samples here, ready to post, but I'm keeping them under wraps for just another day or two.  However, I also have some wonderful Summer Mini samples that I am going to post as well.  Today's card comes from Sofi Daniels, a demonstrator that is part of my big stamping family.  Sofi has used the Flower Fest and Happy Greetings stamp sets, both of which are available in the Summer Mini Catalogue. 

The cool effect on the flower and leaves was created with Stampin' Pastels.  Both of the stamps are thick-lined stamps, making it very easy to colour in the centres.  I love the effect!

Chocolate Covered Strawberries???

Two days left until the new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalogue is revealed!  I've been drooling over it for three weeks, and I can hardly wait to share it with you on Friday. 

For today though, I have a "card" that features the strawberry from the Tart and Tangy stamp set.  Card is in quotes because it's not really a card per se, but rather a chocolate popsicle shaped card on a stick.  There have been many variations of this card splashed all over the internet, but I rather liked the thought of adding a bit of Crystal Effects to that section of the strawberry that had been coloured using Chocolate Chip ink.

Now, I did a lousy job inking my stamp to begin with, and then I did a lousy job with my Crystal Effects because I forgot to take out the big glob at the top that was kinda sorta dry.  So, my berry isn't perfect - just like Ontario strawberries (but oh, are these juicy!).  The ones that came after this were much better.  Did I take a picture of one of them?  Noooooooooooo...

Brithday Gifts from Party Hearty

Only three days left of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalogue!  We used another of my favourite retiring stamp sets at stamp club last week - Party Hearty.  I will miss the cupcake stamp, but I'll really miss the small, circular gift stamp.  It fits the 3/4" circle punch perfectly, making this card a snap to make.

I cannot take credit for this card.  The original version was created by the super-awesome Mary Brown.  She truly comes up with the best card designs!

Happy Graduation Cap Card

Now that the school year is winding down, and graduation ceremonies are taking place, I have a card that is remarkable quick to construct, yet utterly fitting for the occasion.  Kelly Bingham created this card for our Leadership card swap, and it's THE perfect card for the graduate on your list.

When closed, the top part of the card becomes the graduation cap.

Once opened, there is a wonderful space for a sentiment and personal greeting.  This is truly a keepsake card - and it's really easy to make!  The interior sentiment from Word Play is absolutely perfect for this occasion.

Scrapbook Sundays - One Fish, Two Fish... You know the rest.

Last Sunday I posted the first layout from the Seuss part of Universal Studios in Florida.  Here are the next set of pages from that part of the park.  It's really, really bright there.  I pity the painters that had to stare at all of the fluorescent colours when they were painting it all. 

It truly is a great place for kids and adults alike.  The street signs are hilarious to read, and meeting the Cat in the Hat was worth the heavy duty sunglasses that you needed to wear to dull down the colours.

The only Stampin' Up! anything on this page is the title.  I stamped it on Whisper White cardstock using the retired Rough Type alphabet and Night of Navy ink.  All of my Stampin' Up! alphabets - retired or otherwise - are kept on a separate shelf in my stamping area.  I collect and hoard these as I find they are superb for creating wonderful titles.

There is one more set of Universal pages that are finished, and ready to be posted.  The Disney pages?  They'll be awhile :)

An Embossed Greenhouse Garden

I found a card online a few weeks back that featured Stampin' Up!'s new coloured embossing powders.  The card used one of the stamp sets that is in the Summer Mini catalogue, but it also used all three of the new coloured embossing powders.

Now, at the time that I put this card together for our Leadership swap, I only had the Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi powders.  Actually, I had two of the Wild Wasabi powders as I had ordered one by accident, when I was supposed to order the Tangerine Tango!  I may recreate this card again, replacing one of the Melon Mambo flowers with a Tangerine Tango flower. 

The big draw for me was using these powders on black cardstock.  Because it's so difficult to stamp on dark colours, and actually see your image, these hold a lot of potential for future projects.

The flower image is from the Greenhouse Garden stamp set, and I have only used the base flower image for the card.  I tried everything I could think of to see if I could somehow add the detailing, but all I did was wreck a lot of black cardstock and Melon Mambo flowers.  The sentiment comes from the Bring on the Cake stamp set that was in the Occasions Mini catalogue.  You *might* see this stamp set again in the future.

A Delightful Medallion

One of the cards that I received during our recent demonstrator swap is oh so easy to create, yet it looks absolutely wonderful.  It only uses two stamps - Medallion, and one of the sentiments from Curly Cute.  Add a couple of punched flowers and a rhinestone, and you're good to go.  The colour combination on this card is Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo, and it's perfect for summer.

I would love to be able to tell you who created this gorgeous card, but I don't have a name to go with the sample (e-mail me if it's yours!).  I do love it though.

Priceless, how I'll miss you.

My Stamp Clubs this month are using retiring stamp sets on their projects.  It's our last chance to say good-bye to some of our favourite stamp sets.  They may use them at home, but we won't be seeing them anymore at classes or special events.

When Priceless was first released, it quickly became my favourite go-to stamp set.  I haven't used it in awhile, but was very nostalgic this week when I pulled it out.

The original card sample that our project was based on was created by Gaile Merritt Murrell, another one of the talented stampers that was at our Leadership meeting last weekend.

The colour combination on this card is a true winner - Bashful Blue & Early Espresso.  The sentiment isn't retiring, and is from the Thank You Kindly stamp set.

Scrapbook Sundays - Oh the Places You Will Go!

I'm slowly working my way through my Disney scrapbook - and I mean slowly.  I have sixteen pages that are partially finished, in that there are pictures, mats & titles, but no embellishments or journalling.  I've decided that the pictures will all go on the pages, and I'll do the embellishing/stickering/journalling at the end to ensure that I don't duplicate journalling, and I don't run out of stickers!  I'm generally not a sticker person, so I'm finding it difficult to measure out what page gets what stuff.

My Universal Studios pages though, are finished.  At least the ones that aren't from Harry Potter are.  I think the Potter pages will be the last to be finished, even though that was the first place we went.  My daughter loved Seussland, and it was really funky and bright, so we spent some time there.  Here is the first of two layouts from the world of Dr. Seuss.

Now, as you all know, I don't use Stampin' Up! products exclusively in my scrapbooks.  Why?  Because I own a lot of scrapbook stuff *hangs head*.  A lot.  The base pages are from another company, but the Designer Series Paper, as well as the cardstock for the title are from SU!  As are the buttons.  I was pleased as punch the day that I found the Seuss stickers at the big M.  Especially since it was the day after I stuck everything else on the page!!!  Sad isn't it? 

The second layout from this section of the park will go up next Sunday.  I'm going to load it now to ensure that it posts on time.
