A cute wreath o' paper

I've spent my weekend making cards for other people, working on my own Christmas cards, and preparing for tonight's Tag Class.  As such, I'm posting a photo of a gorgeous wreath that one of the members of my downline, Karen Kane, created for our last group meeting in September.

Karen used a wreath form, some rolled Merry Moments Designer Series Paper, and a bunch of stick pins to put this together.  The Real Red 5/8" grosgrain ribbon is the perfect touch to finish it off.  This is a great project to work on in front of the TV because you're simply rolling the paper, and sticking it in.  Time consuming, but fairly mindless, and when you're done you'll have a gorgeous wreath!

Christmas Open House - Friday December 4th!

My Christmas Open House is on Friday, December 4th.  This is the perfect time to shop for Hostess gifts, Teacher gifts, Christmas Cards, and gifts for family and friends.

I'll have lots of ready-made items to take home including Christmas Cards, gift card holders, gift tags, stamped tile coasters, Build-a-Bear ornament kits, etched glass plates, and monogrammed stationary that I will customize while you wait.

Everyone that comes can also create a quick Christmas Card to take home with them!  Yummy treats will also be out to nibble on. 

The doors will be open from 1pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at 2 Tavistock Avenue in Brooklin ON.  Kids are more than welcome to come!  Since it's a PA Day, mine will be running around causing havoc.  The more the merrier!

Christmas Ornaments made with... Christmas Ornaments!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American friends!!!  We celebrated Happy Turkey Day about a month adn a half ago, but it's always nice to have a second date on the calendar.  Today I've got another Christmas ornament for you!  We made these ornaments at my Mom & Me stamping class on Sunday afternoon, and everyone was easily able to stamp, punch, and glue these together.

These darling ornaments were created using the Delightful Decorations stamp set, some silver cord, and a couple of baubles from the Pretties Kit.  Each child was able to choose the colours for their ornament.  They stamped them, punched them out, and assembled them.

Build-a-Bear Christmas Ornaments

We made some pretty cute Christmas ornaments at our Mom & Me stamping class on the weekend.  There was actually very little stamping, but lots of punching & gluing.  In the end, there was a very big mess on the table, but everyone went home happy with three ornaments.  One of the ornaments created by the kids was a Build-a-Bear Santa ornament. 

I punched out all of the pieces ahead of time, and the kids could choose whether they made a Santa or Mrs. Claus.  It's WAY easier in a class like this to have everything punched!  As much as kids love using the Big Shot to create their own diecuts, it would be really time consuming to leave it all up to them :)  I didn't punch the dies in white and cut along the perforated lines for the fur on their suits.  The pieces would have been tiny to glue.  I decided to put out the Dazzling Diamonds instead and let the kids go crazy! 

One small tip for you... don't try and glue in the black buttons on the jackets.  Just glue a piece of black to the back of the jacket and make sure that the buttons are popped out of the red.  Instant buttons!

Who are these lovely girls?  Emily & Jordan!  Jordan is holder her bear, as well as her brother's bear.  You can see the sparkle! 

Mom & Me classes are on hiatus in December, but will be back in January with Valentine's projects.

Delightful Decorations, with a little bit of Shimmer

Back on November 1st I posted a card on my blog that featured the Delightful Decorations set.  We made this card at our November stamp club, but I changed the colours to incorporate the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint, and the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper. 

You can't see the shimmer on this card (unfortunately!) but it's there.  The background paper has some shimmer built right into it, and we sprayed the rest of the elements with some paint mixed with rubbing alcohol.  If you're holding the card, you'll see everything shimmer on it.  Something fun for the holidays.

Shimmery Silver Snowflakes

When I first saw the Shimmer Paints in the Holiday Mini Catalogue, I was instantly drawn to the Platinum paint as I LOVE silver.  I'm not a brass or yellow gold person, so I own a lot of silver, wear white gold jewellery, and love the look of brushed platinum in my house.

I also love the combination of blue, white, & silver.  This card really appeals to me because it truly is my colour scheme!

 

Lots of Platinum Shimmer Paint on this one!  The large snowflake stamp from Serene Snowflakes was stamped in Brocade Blue on the white cardstock.  I then added the paint to the stamp and stamped it again.  I didn't intend for it to stamp almost perfectly on top of the image.  This paint is rather solid, and you wouldn't be able to see the image underneath.  Everyone else's is about 1/8" off, and it looks better because you really have a great mirror image of the snowflakes. 

The original card was CASE'd from created by another Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Dawn Shearer.

Shimmery Bermuda Bay Flakes

Stamp club this month featured the Shimmer Paints found on page 27 of the Holiday Mini Catalogue.  These paints come in three colours - Champagne Mist, Frost White & Platinum, and are perfect for adding a bit of shimmer to your cards or scrapbook pages.  We used all three colours on our cards, with gorgeous results!

The card below was created by Colleen Weddell.  The snowflakes from Serene Snowflake were stamped on the card, and heat embossed.  Once all of embossing was finished, she picked up a bit of the Frost White shimmer paint using a Sponge Dauber, and just pulled the paint across the image.  This muted the Bermuda Bay paper, and gave the entire piece a really nice sheen.

The Bermuda Bay cardstock has been mounted on some of our Silver cardstock, and we used the super-sneaky ribbon saving trick to add a quick knot to the card.  This is a fairly quick card to make, but you will want to ensure that you have a proper heat tool for the job as there is a lot of embossing.

Upcoming Simply Scrappin' Tag & Gift Card Holder Class

My November Class is one that is one that will help everyone get ready for the busy holiday season.  We will be using part of a Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' kit, as well as some cardstock, ribbon, stamps and Designer Series Paper to make tags, cards, & gift card holders.  A sample of the cards appears below, but we will ultimately make more than what is shown. 

This will truly be a fast-paced but fun class.  For the most part, the cards above do not have sentiments on them.  I will have all of my holiday sentiments and co-ordinating inkpads on the table so that you can personalize your cards & tags.
