Shake, shake, shake that cupcake!

As part of the "birthday party weekend", my other son is heading off to a party today for a 7 year old girl.  Woo!  It's not often that I get to make girl kiddie birthday cards!!!

I was messing around on Thursday afternoon, and decided to make her a shaker card, with sprinkles that are in my kitchen cabinets.  The only real problem with that is that the foam that I used to create the space around the cupcake wasn't quite high enough, and a few of the sprinkles got stuck!!!  Next time I'll use thicker foam, or a double layer of it.

The sentiment for this card comes from On Your Birthday, and the cupcake is from Party Hearty.  I've got another shaker card to post, but I need to give it to my friend before she sees it online :)

Piranhas on the loose!

This is what happens when you have a nine year old son, who likes crazy things, and needs a birthday card for his friend.  You get piranhas chasing other fish on cards.

The fish are from Just Beachy, and the shells are from the retired Sandy Shells wheel.  The sentiment comes from the On Your Birthday set.  It's a crazy, easy card, but just perfect for the kid that wants piranhas.

A Sun-kissed birdie

The last project that we did at stamp club this week involved the Kissing technique.  There are two basic ways to "kiss" your stamps to create a unique image.  I have samples of both bird cards below.  If you'd like to see another one, stop by my Facebook page!   Become a fan and see exclusive content (like the Paisley bird) not available anywhere else.

The first bird is stamped as an almost complete bird, using Pacific Point ink.  The girls at the club preferred this bird, simply because he was complete, and it was very easy to see his outline.

The second birdie was the reverse of the first bird.  There is very little ink on the stamp, and it's more difficult to see his wing. 

I like the effect on both birds, and LOVE the technique.  I just lack a bunch of solid stamps right now to play with (although the big flower in my Stitched Exotics would probably look awesome as a kissed flower).

A monochromatic, and "manly" birthday card

Masculine birthday cards are are always difficult to make.  Men just don't like flowers, ribbon or glitter.  Really!  They don't.  My husband trolls through our catalogue every now and again, and rarely does he come up with a stamp that suits him.  This particular card is the second one that we created at this month's stamp clubs.  It uses the always popular Lovely as a Tree (which I suspect may very well retire this year, but I don't know - so don't quote me!), Sincere Salutations, and only one colour of ink.

Fortunately, the timing of this card is awesome - a friend had a birthday earlier this week, and now I've got a card for him!!!  One more to strike from my ever-growing list.

Fruit that's yummy enough to eat!

This month's stamp club members are learning a couple of different techniques.  The first technique is one that I did with my members 2+ years ago, and thought that I'd bring it back again because it's fun, and it can be used with so many different stamps.  Rock & Roll is easy, and the effects can be spectacular.

This card was CASE'd from one that I found on SplitCoastStampers, and I think that it's just the perfect thank you card to send to a hostess after a weekend bbq.  In addition, the orange stamp from the Tart & Tangy set is one of the best stamps that I've ever seen to do Rock & Roll with.  It's clean, and you can make different types of fruit - oranges, lemons, limes, and watermelon.  You just need to find your colours, and use your imagination.  We also used the Itty Bitty Backgrounds and Enjoy Every Moment sets on this card.

A quick & simple baby card - using Sale-a-Bration paper & ribbon!

I'm starting to think about end of school teacher gifts.  I've got a bunch of them to make, as my 3 kids have a combined 4 teachers.  Yikes!  One of my daughter's nursery school teachers is pregnant with her first child, so I decided to make her a quick batch of thank-you cards.  These are super easy to make, and I've used some of the paper and ribbon that I have leftover from Sale-a-bration.  I have LOTS of leftover ribbon, so this was a no-brainer.  The most time-consuming part of the process was the actual colouring of the Zebras.  I have Corrie to thank for that!  Her coloured zebras are totally cute.

I will make a cute box for the cards, complete with envelopes.  I think that Marie will love this!  Which set does this mega-cute zebra come from?  Zoofari!  The Sweet Little One stamp comes from the Hugs and Wishes set, a set that I use on a constant basis.

Dude, here's your card!

My son's 9th birthday party took place on Saturday afternoon at a local mini-golf course.  Did I mention that his birthday was in early February??  His party was put off because hockey was interfering with everyone's schedule.  It's a difficult task to try and co-ordinate a party during hockey season when everyone's playing on different teams, in different divisions, or in outright different leagues!

Anyhow, this is one of the cards that he received at his much-belated party.  It's absolutely perfect because he calls all of his friends "dude".  The paper is most decidedly not Stampin' Up! paper, but it's a great match for the card.

Back in the Barnyard again...

A new day, and a new animal punch card!  Today it's all about the pig.  Heather Summers did an amazing job designing this little piggy.  He's easy to make, but has lots of cute impact!

Punchy animals on the farm. Moo!

Yesterday was a wonderful stamping day.  I had two animal punch art classes at my house, and I really enjoyed watching everyone punch and assemble their animal cards.  I had previously posted the dog card, so I'll post 2 versions of the cow card.  Before I forget, full credit for these cards goes to Heather Summers, a demonstrator from London, Ontario.  She demonstrated these cards at our Regional Meeting back in March, and I knew that I wanted to share them with my stamping friends.

The first two photos of the "cow card" are of the card that I created for my class.

These next two photos are courtesy of Jill Czuczman, who jazzed up her cow with a bit of Close to Cocoa paper and a slightly different face.  The differences are subtle, but he's one attractive cow!
