Mini Purses for all!

A quick post this evening.  I've been out for most of the day, and have spent my evening making sure that things are ready for tomorrow's Hostess Appreciation Event.  I'm pretty tired, and am looking forward to crashing in bed.

But first...  this is the card that we sent out as our invitation.  It uses Rose Red Prints Designer Series Paper from last winter, as well as Kraft and Close to Cocoa paper.

Full credit for this card (and I do mean full credit!) goes to Shauna McGill.  I received the card below as a swap card from Shauna at our last big meeting.  She has used Pink Pirouette and Perfect Plum as her colours, as well as Perfect Plum Prints Designer Series Paper.

The card uses a bunch of fun punches.  I have a punch class on my calendar for May - stay tuned for further details!!

February Stamp Club projects - 2 spots still available!

My stamp clubs this month created three different 3-dimensional pop-up cards.  All were very different, and all have a great WOW factor to them!

The first one we created was a stand-up pop-up card.  I have made these in the past, but it's been awhile and most of the people in my stamp club hadn't seen one of these before.

I like this card as it's easy to create, and gives the recipient a different style of card to display.  You can add a photograph or message to the reverse of the big panel.

We used the Delicate Dots DSP, Certainly Celery from the ribbon bundle, and Polka Dot Punches - all from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue.

Our second card is a direct CASE from one that was received at our January Mega-Meeting (thanks Mary Hamill!).  It uses the Party Hearty set, along with some very bright colours!!!

When pulled flat, the "Celebrate You" disappears inside the card, and it can be put in an envelope.  When you push the tabs together, the scallop pops out of the card.  It's ingenious!!

Last, but not least, is this rather cute butterfly card.  It uses Flight of the Butterfly, and some really amazing colours!!

I saw a number of completed spiral pop-up cards at our January mega-meeting.  This particular card was CASE'd from one that I saw on SplitCoastStampers. 

When the card is opened, the butterflies fly open with it!

I didn't include a sentiment on the inside of the card as I wanted space to write whatever my heart desires.  You can easily add a sentiment before completing the card.

Another Round of Scrappy Pages

Me again!  My scrappy friends got together on Saturday afternoon for some scrapping, eating, movie watching, and more scrapping.  It was Hockey Day in Canada (all of the Canadian NHL teams were playing each other) and we invited a few people over to celebrate.  The men watched hockey, the women scrapped, and the kids destroyed my house.  Really.  You should see the basement!  It wasn't too bad after our SuperBowl party in early February (we had 70 people here!) but now it's a total writeoff.  It wouldn't have been so bad if the kids hadn't gotten into the foam peanuts that were stored in a box.  But I digress... we had spaghetti for dinner, and the ladies left the house (while the kids were still eating!) to head out and see a movie.  When we returned, it was very quiet, so we scrapped some more!

Here's this weekend's scrappy pages.  This was the Canada Day party that our street holds every year.  We came back from our friend's cottage (see yesterday's post) just in time for the party. 

Let's see, supplies used on this page... well, the paper came from the Sandylion warehouse in Markham.  The best part is that it's not actually maple leaf paper, it's actually Christmas paper!!!  You can't see it in the picture, and it's hard to tell even when the book is front of you but, it's actually very red holly paper.  No matter.  It worked really well for what I wanted, so I used it.  Just don't tell anyone about the holly.  The rickrack came from Fabricland, and I had two maple leaf punches (one was Michaels and the other is a Creative Memories punch).  I used my Fiskars template to cut the big maple leaves.  Stampin' Up! stuff consists of the Very Vanilla hodgepodge hardware frame, Ruby Red ink for the stamps, my Simple Serif alpha for the date, and Very Vanilla paper. 

I started scrapbooking before I ever became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, so I have LOTS of non-SU! stuff lying around.  I'll try and post what I actually use on my pages to help you out.  All posted cards though use exclusively Stampin' Up! product.

I've just been scrappin' away!

I've actually had a bit of time to scrapbook recently.  Not much, but a bit!  I'm desperately trying to finish my 2007 album so that I can get started on my 2008 book.  I don't like being more than a year behind!!!

This layout is all about Canada Day weekend, spent at a neighbour's cottage with friends.  I was going to use one of my Simply Scrappin' Kits, but aside from the background colour (Old Olive), nothing else matched.  Besides... I haven't used a lot of embellishments on my most recent pages.  That all changed with this one.  (Note: the last pages that I uploaded didn't have any embellishments but I went back, yanked them out of the album, and added really nice big silver brads and ribbon.  It looks WAY better!)

I think the only Stampin' Up! stuff on these pages are the Old Olive 12x12 paper that everything has been loaded on, and some Brilliant Blue paper for matting.  I've also used the blue on the chipboard letter "d".

Yummy!!!

I have a few more card samples to share this evening - all are Sale-a-Bration samples, and all feature the set Yummy! 

Our first sample for the evening comes from... me!!  This was my card for our recent Sale-a-Bration card swap.  It's a gift card holder (see next photo created using Bravo Burgundy, Blush Blossom, and Very Vanilla.  I NEVER use these colours (well, the Vanilla yes but the others no)!!!  But... due to a small ordering accident, I ended up with two full packs of the Burgundy before Christmas and I was determined to use them!!!

This is what the card looks like when it's open.  The template for the envelope is courtesy of Chapters Books.  I ripped apart one of theirs that was lying around my house, and copied a good chunk of the construction details. 

I've used the Sweetest Stem Embosslet to punch out the flowers, Bravo Burgundy craft ink, and irridescent ice embossing powder (on the swirls and "with love" stamp).

The slit punch has also been used to cut out the openings that could hold a gift card.

I really like this sample.  Myra Webb used the big stamp from Yummy, but only inked up the flourishes instead of the entire stamp.  The big "Congratulations" from the Congrats set is a great touch. 

The card features the colours So Saffron, and Certainly Celery, and some of the So Saffron grosgrain ribbon that you can earn during SAB.  There is also some of the gorgeous Designer Series Paper from the SAB catalogue. 

The little card with the ribbon pops out - a secret card on a card!

Michelle Hamelin put together this cute card that uses Sahara Sand cardstock and Prints DSP.  It is set off really well by the white paper, and ribbon.

Our last sample this evening came from Rosina Petrella.  She has layered embossed vellum on top of black, and has stamped the big stamp from Yummy using Whisper White craft ink.  It's a very different, but effective card.

Polka Dot Punches!!

More Sale-A-Bration card samples this evening...   A lot of people really like the Polka Dot Punches set, as it can be used in all of their punches!!!  Hmmm... that almost seems self-explanatory.  Anyhow, here are 4 card samples that have used the stamps from this set.  Three of the cads also use the SAB Designer Series Paper on them as well!

Jacqueline Cameron's card is very soft, and uses some of the So Saffron Poly-Twill ribbon from the big catty. 

This next card, created by Shirley Hannah, is very easy to create, but is very striking.  The flowers have been embossed in white, and they are raised using Stampin' Dimensionals.  They sit on top of some of the Certainly Celery poly-twill ribbon (an SAB choice).  The stamp is from Sincere Salutations, and has been stamped in Certainly Celery.

Shauna McGill's creation features the same colours, paper, and ribbon.  She has added a sentiment from the Congrats set (SAB brochure), that has been popped up in the centre.  You can't see the relief (that's what happens when you squash a card under the lid of a scanner), but it's really nice because only the centre has been raised, so you have an awesome bow to the sentiment.

Our last sample for the evening uses a completely different colour scheme than the others.  It features Tempting Turquise, and Gable Green, with a splash of Green Galore thrown in. 

I'd love to give credit to the creator of this lovely card, but I can't as I don't know who created it!!

January Mom & Me stamping - we had fun!!!

We had some fun at Mom and Me stamping in January, and I'm happy to share a couple of pictures with you!  It was an all-boy affair, as all of the girls were busy that day.  The boys were happy to make a couple of Valentine's cards, as well as a rather cool skull-clad tin.  I had to make another tin later that afternoon for my daughter Michelle, who was rather jealous that the boys had cool tins and she did not!

First up is Sam, who is proudly showing off his Valentine's card.

Cole had oodles of fun with the Heart to Heart punch, and lots of fun paper!

Finally, here's Michy's little tin.  It's a Tetley tea container, wrapped with paper and ribbon!  She keeps her very special treasures in it (Barbie shoes top that list!).

A little bit of Spring/Summer Catalogue Housekeeping

Even though I've barely mentioned it on my blog, the new Stampin' Up! Spring/Summer Idea Book and Catalogue have been released, and there is LOTS of fun stuff inside.  However, you'll find a couple of things missing:

1.  Card recipes - where did they go???  They have been taken out of the catalogue, but you can find them here online.  I've also included a handy dandy link on the right side of my blog.

2.  Dormant List - not all of our current stamp sets have been included in the catalogue.  A lot of our seasonal sets are on the dormant list.  Click here to see what's still available for purchase, but hasn't been included in the big catty.  This is on the sidebar as well. 

3.  Corrections and Write-Ins - there are a few!  You can find the current list of corrections here.  I will update this page as needed to ensure that everything is at your fingertips.
